Employability Courses
Employability Skills can be defined as the transferable skills needed by an individual to make them 'employable'. Along with good technical understanding and subject knowledge, employers often outline a set of core values, attitudes and skills that they want from their employees.
At Hampshire Achieves we have a team of experienced, qualified tutors who can offer a range of courses to help you into employment. This may be support to get back into employment, following redundancy or a break from the labour market, or even taking the first steps towards changing careers.

This course is for adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who meet the eligibility and residency criteria. If you are looking for employment in the UK, then this course could offer you support and guidance, including where to look for work, what skills employers are looking for, how to create a targeted CV, how to answer an interview question using the STAR method and discuss your strengths and weaknesses in a positive way. This course will help you to achieve the following:
- List your education and past achievements
- Identify key personal skills that are relevant to a specific job role
- Find out where to look for work and identify relevant vacancies
- List the requirements of specific job role
- Answer interview questions using the STAR method

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge and skills about creating an eye catching CV using the latest information and guidance. This course can be used to create a new professional CV or update an existing CV if you are looking for employment opportunities. The course will cover:
· Why a CV is your first step of marketing yourself when you are job-hunting
· How to write a powerful personal statement (and cover letter) that highlights your transferrable skills, attitudes and experience to get you noticed
· What should, and what should not be included in a curriculum vitae to protect your personal information
· How to tackle gaps in your employment history
· How to target your CV to a specific employer and market yourself brilliantly through ‘ghosting’ a job description

Our combined employability and wellbeing courses are for adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about developing their personal confidence for the workplace.
This short course could be useful if you suffer from interview anxiety, struggle with certain situations or tasks at work, or you are coping with redundancy or life changes. The course will cover the following:
- The reason behind anxiety and your physical response to stressful situations
- How to ‘let go’ of the things that are outside of your control and focus on those things that you can control
- Challenge self-critical thoughts by building on your strengths
- Gain a more balanced view of yourself
- Practical exercises to help you cope with challenging situations in the workplace

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about developing personal wellness in preparation for work.
The course will provide you with practical ideas, resources, and strategies to overcome barriers to job hunting, including interview anxiety and will cover:
• Discover how to address health conditions, including mental health difficulties during the job search process, during interviews and whilst in work
• Identify your own barriers to work and plan how to address them
• Discover at least four strategies to prepare for the job search/application process and overcome anxietyHampshire Learns adult education courses are fully inclusive and designed to meet your individual learning needs in a safe, supportive learning environment. Where possible additional support will be provided to address any barriers to learning.

This free course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like basic safeguarding awareness in preparation for employment in the childcare, youth work or school sector. This course covers the age range from pre-birth to 18 years of age. The course will cover:
· The underpinning safeguarding legislation that guides safe practice and recruitment
· Identify the different types of abuse and the signs and indicators of abuse
· Find out why some children are more vulnerable to abuse
· Find out what to do, and what to say if a child discloses that they are being harmed
· Discover where to find out more information and further training

This short course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like more awareness of equality & inclusion in childcare settings. The course will cover:
· The SEND Code of Practice and what this means for childcare providers and schools
· The difference between a medical and social model of disability
· The type of support available to children and young people with SEND, specific learning difficulties and from lower income families
· How you can be more culturally aware when working with children, young people and their families
· How to feel confident to challenge unconscious bias, presumptions and inequality in childcare settings

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to explore children and young people’s nutrition. You will discover resources and apps that can support you to encourage healthy food choices, find how you can support children with allergies or food sensitivities and also discover why certain foods are so addictive. The course will cover:
· Basic information on the five main nutrient groups, why children’s bodies need these and the short and long-term effects on children’s health & wellbeing from a poor diet
· Find out what makes up a healthy balanced diet for children and young people
· How to adapt favourite recipes and make adjustments that are healthier and affordable
· Introduction to common allergens and food sensitivities you may see in children and young people
· Explore the NHS food scanner app to support healthy food shopping choices.

This free course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like basic safeguarding awareness in preparation for volunteering, assessing or working with young people who are involved in The Duke of Edinburgh Award.
This course will cover:
· The underpinning safeguarding legislation that guides safe practice and recruitment of volunteers in DofE and outdoor activities
· Identify the four main types of abuse and the signs and indicators of harm
· Find out why certain teenagers are more vulnerable to abuse
· Find out what to do, and what to say if a child discloses that they are being harmed
· Discover where to find out more information and further training
