Plug-in

Small program that adds functionality to web browsers – usually allowing users of the Web to display different file types such as Flash animations, PDF documents and audio files. Plug-ins can be downloaded from the Web.


Portal

A website (which may lead to a range of other websites) delivering information appropriate for and targeted to the user, aiding communication and collaboration.

SCORM

Shareable Content Object Reference Model

SCORM is a unified set of specifications which enable the easy sharing and re-use of objects.

Virtual Learning Environment

A collection of integrated software tools that help users share, plan, deliver and search learning resources, and which include content, assessment and tracking.

a system of Internet servers that support specially formatted documents. The documents are formatted in a language called HTML (HyperText Markup Language) that supports links to other documents, as well as graphics, audio, and video files. This means you can jump from one document to another simply by clicking on hot spots. Not all Internet servers are part of the World Wide Web.
