Roles and Responsibilities
6. Staff Development and Training
All tutors are expected to
take part in staff training and development appropriate to their role. Staff development may involve a variety of
activities, which may include attendance at centre meetings; Hampshire Achieves staff development training events; open or distance learning including
e-learning; and external courses.
Identifying Staff Development Needs
Staff development needs may
arise from curriculum changes or the introduction of new courses and may also
be identified through feedback from tutor support visits, teaching
observations, team meetings, peer and self-assessment.
How to Apply for Staff Development
Hampshire Achieves Staff
Development Programme of events is published at the start of the academic
year. In addition additional activities
may be arranged during the year. If you
wish to attend a staff development activity you should discuss this with your
Centre Manager, and follow the enrolment instructions for the advertised course.
Evaluation of Staff Development
We need to know how effective staff development is so that
we can make improvements where necessary.
Staff participating in staff development training events will be asked
to provide written feedback on staff development activities at the end of each
event. You may also be asked to comment
on the benefits of staff development activities undertaken some time after you
have completed your training by completing a follow-up evaluation form. Please ensure that you return this form to Hampshire Achieves within the timescale requested.
