Household Support Workshops

Hampshire Achieves have received Household Support Funding to deliver FREE workshops in the following topics:
- Cooking on a Budget
This course is perfect for families who would like to learn how to prepare cheap, filling, and nutritious meals. They will discover the health benefits of home cooking, explore the benefits of using a slow cooker to save money on their energy bills, consider food safety points when using slow cookers; including how to safely store and reheat batch cooked foods and the opportunity to sample a delicious home cooked meal. Attendees on this course will take home a slow cooker, ingredients to cook the meal demonstrated and some essential cooking implements.
- Digital Skills
Learners will receive one to one support to use a public digital device, to explore ways to access useful information that can save time and money, develop the confidence to shop or bank online, book a GP appointment, access online bills, use email and messaging services, or even sell unwanted items online to make some extra money. This is an introductory workshop, and individuals may be signposted to longer basic digital skills course to develop their confidence and skills, or provided with self-directed learning to carry out in their own time, at their own pace.
- Household Budgeting
This course is for adults who would like to find out about cost-saving ways to manage their money and reduce household bills. They will discover how to create a useful budget plan to calculate their income and outgoings, explore the various benefits or incentives available that may help them to reduce their household bills, and will find out where to get support and help both locally and nationally to help make their money go further.
These workshops are intended for adults age 19+ who currently reside in the Hampshire County Council boundaries (not unitary authorities).
Learners who attend any of the workshops above, will also be able to apply for a food voucher worth £100.00 - £150.00 depending on their household size (restricted to one voucher per family).
