First Aid & Food Safety
Hampshire Learns direct delivery team offer a range of practical courses to support employability, and the health and safety of our Hampshire residents. We are currently offering the following accredited courses:
- Paediatric First Aid (One Day, Classroom Based, Practical Course)
- Emergency First Aid (One Day, Classroom Based, Practical Course)
- Food Safety in Catering Level 2 (Two Day Blended Learning Course)

This course is aimed at adults aged 19+ who would like to develop or refresh their knowledge of food safety in order to gain a Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering.
This qualification will be relevant to anyone looking for a job that will involve preparing or handling food, including job roles in any part of the food industry from manufacturing to retail, from kitchen staff to waiting staff, from carers in homes and childcare providers. The course will cover:
· The importance of personal hygiene and how this impacts food safety
· How to keep the work area safe including the safe use of chemicals
· How to keep foods safe from contamination and cross contamination and allergenic contamination
· The importance of correct food handling procedures and temperature control
This programme will take place over 2 days
Day 1 will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams.
Day 2 your final assessment will be carried out face to face at our office in WinchesterOn completion you will achieve a Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety for Catering (RQF) Certificate.

This course is aimed at Hampshire adults aged 19+ who would like to develop or refresh their knowledge of food allergens to gain a Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness & Control in Catering. This qualification will be relevant to anyone looking for a job that will involve preparing or handling food, including roles in any part of the food industry including manufacturing, retail, kitchen staff and waiting staff. It is also highly desirable for working in adult and children's care or education settings. The course will cover:
· the characteristics and consequences of food allergies and intolerances
· the procedures for identifying and controlling contamination from allergenic ingredients
· How to communicate allergen information to consumers
This is a two day course
Day 1 will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. No specialist software, applications or passwords will be required.
Day 2 your assessment will be carried out face to face at our office in Winchester
Success candidates will achieve a Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering (RQF) Certificate.
