Family Learning & Wellbeing Courses
Life Skills courses are designed to increase your knowledge and skills necessary for everyday life and good mental health and wellbeing.
Hampshire Learns offer a range of short courses to help you with a variety of skills including goal-setting, decision making, problem solving, communication, presentation skills, healthy lifestyles, self-confidence, resilience and motivation.

Our wellbeing courses are for adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about developing their personal confidence and personal wellbeing. This two-day online workshop could be useful if you suffer from interview anxiety, struggle with social situations or you are coping with life-changes. The course will cover the following:
- What confidence is and when we need to be confident
- Developing a vision of what our confident selves look, feel and act like
- How to use the language of a ‘growth mindset’
- Find out what a comfort zone is and plan ways to challenge ourselves to develop as individuals
- Identify areas of self-care that can enhance our personal confidence and raise self esteem

Our Hampshire Learns wellbeing courses are for adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about developing their personal wellbeing and self-confidence. This two-day online workshop could be useful if you are coping with life-changes or feel you lack direction. The workshops will cover the following:
· How to connect with others or reconnect with yourself
· How to gently increase your physical health or your activity level
· How to find a new hobby or learn something new
· How helping others and showing kindness can improve your own wellbeing
· How to be mindful and present in the moment

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding about preparing mentally for work, how to overcome barriers and develop personal resilience and confidence. The online workshops will cover the following:
· Provide you with practical ideas, resources, and strategies to overcome barriers to job hunting
· Share relevant knowledge about how to address health conditions, including mental health difficulties during the job search process and whilst in work
· Identify your own barriers to work and plan how to address them
· Equip learners with at least four strategies to prepare for the job search/application process and overcome anxiety
Course Expectations:
Hampshire Learns adult education courses are fully inclusive and designed to meet your individual learning needs in a safe, supportive learning environment. Where possible additional support will be provided to address any barriers to learning.

If you are 19+, living in Hampshire and would like to learn more about how your diet can affect your mental and physical health, then Hampshire Learns can offer you a two-day, online wellbeing programme, completely free of charge.
· On this course you will discover the wonderful world of the ‘gut microbiota’ and how the type of bacteria in your gut can influence your weight, your mood, and potential allergies and intolerances. You will also see how your gut microbiome may influence the likelihood of developing inflammatory auto-immune illnesses and diseases.
· You will discover how you can optimise your diet by adding inexpensive foods, receive top tips how to save time and money and which foods to avoid as they can be linked to mood instability.
· You will also explore the links between body image, triggers, habits and coping mechanisms when making healthy choices about your diet.

This 6 week course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop knowledge, skills and understanding about how yoga can benefit wellbeing. This six-week course will give you a basic introduction to the benefits of yoga to mental and physical health.
• Discover the basic benefits of yoga to your physical and mental health and wellbeing.
• Identify areas of self-gratitude in your life.
• Find out how yoga can cultivate a feeling of presence through mind, body and breath connection (mindfulness).
• Understand the benefits to your mind and body of deep relaxation.

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to develop knowledge and skills about how yoga can improve balance, posture, and flexibility. This six-week course will give you a basic introduction to the benefits of yoga to your mental and physical health. The course will cover:
• Discover the benefits of seated yoga to your physical and mental health.
• Practice gentle movements to increase flexibility, balance, good posture and mental focus
• Find out how yoga can create a feeling of presence through mind, body and breath connection (mindfulness).
• Understand the benefits to your mind and body of deep relaxation.

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to explore children and young people’s confidence and resilience. You will discover strategies to enable children to develop a growth mindset and find out how this is linked to their resilience and self-confidence. The course will cover:
· Discover how resilience and confidence can positively impact children’s lives
· Have an introduction to growth and fixed mindsets and find out how these mindsets can have an impact a child’s confidence and resilience
· Explore strategies to develop children’s confidence and resilience
This course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. No specialist software or passwords will be required to access your online classroom. Details of how to download and use Microsoft Teams will be sent with your joining instructions.
Duration: This is a six-hour tutor led course
- Four x 2-hour online group sessions
- Optional self-directed home learning tasks to expand your knowledge
- Access to a personal tutor for support and guidance

This course is aimed at adults living in Hampshire aged 19+ who would like to explore children and young people’s nutrition. You will discover resources and apps that can support you to encourage healthy food choices, find how you can support children with allergies or food sensitivities and also discover why certain foods are so addictive. The course will cover:
· Basic information on the five main nutrient groups, why children’s bodies need these and the short and long-term effects on children’s health & wellbeing from a poor diet
· Find out what makes up a healthy balanced diet for children and young people
· How to adapt favourite recipes and make adjustments that are healthier and affordable
· Introduction to common allergens and food sensitivities you may see in children and young people
· Explore the NHS food scanner app to support healthy food shopping choices.
