RIASEC- Background

RIASEC is an abbreviation for Hollands Occupation Themes. It includes 6 personality types, which are:

    • Realistic

    • Investigative

    • Artistic

    • Social

    • Enterprising

    • Conventional

RIASEC is an example of a careers matching theory and can be used as a starting point to link a persons ‘personality type(s)’ to particular vocational areas.

RIASEC does not give an indication of ability, it highlights self concept i.e.) what a person thinks they are good at and how this may relate to the world of work.

RIASEC can also be used to support a person in understanding key skills associated with their personality type(s) and therefore support targeted work search/ application writing/ CV writing.

    WEX Placements

      • The ‘WEX1 Form’ is to be used for YP where EPT staff would like a placement sourced by The Employment Skills Hub (ESH-this will include a H+S check). There are 2 versions of the WEX1 Form, one for the Northern Education Participation Team and one for the Southern Education Participation Team.

      • The ‘Own Placement Form’ is for those YP where EPT staff would like The Employment Skills Hub to carry out a health and safety check only. This is appropriate for YP who have sourced their own placement.

      • ESH would like to emphasize that before putting a YP forward for a WEX placement practitioners should be satisfied and confident that the YP is adequately prepared and likely to sustain and do well in their placement.

      • When completing a WEX 1 Form practitioners should include as much relevant information as possible. For example if an individual has anxiety around something in particular, ESH need to be aware so that they can source something appropriate and let the employer know too.

      • If using the WEX Own Placement Form the onus will be on EPT staff to ensure that the placement provider is informed of any special considerations which could affect a successful placement.

      • Completed forms need to be sent to ESH@hants.gov.uk and will be actioned when one of the ESH team are able. WEX sourcing and associated H+S checks carried out by ESH on behalf of Schools will have to take precedence.

      • Once ESH have carried out the H+S check you will receive a confirmation email with feedback regarding the suitability of the placement on a WEX 2 Form. Please keep a local copy of the WEX 2 Form.
